The Abingdon County Hall Museum relaunched on 7th July 2012.
A programme of special changing exhibitions will compliment the new permanent exhibition on the history of the town.
The planned exhibitions for later in 2013 are:
This photographic exhibition shows Janet Boulton’s own, truly
remarkable garden. Janet is well known as a painter of gardens;
from local allotments to Italian gardens and especially for the
sequence of paintings of ‘Little Sparta’, depicting the garden
of sculptor Ian Hamilton Finlay.
In the book,’ Fore Ground/ Ground Back’ which accompanies this
exhibition, Janet describes the early influence of classical
Italian gardens and the acclaimed Barnsley House garden of
Rosemary Verey. Later she diversified into sculpture and
incorporated signs with words and encoded messages, in the
manner of a cubist still life.
Come and be inspired.
