The Abingdon County Hall Museum reopened on 7th July 2012.

A programme of special changing exhibitions will compliment the new permanent exhibition on the history of the town.

The planned exhibitions for later in 2013 are:

  • Abingdon to Zanzibar - an A to Z of Abingdon School alumni, 1 February - 21 April 2013. On 31 January 1563 John Roysse celebrated his 63rd birthday by endowing a school for 63 boys in a schoolroom 63 feet long in Abingdon. This exhibition looks at how, over the last 450 years, many boys from the school have gone on to become famous as artists, scientists, politicians, television personalities and rock stars!

  • Head over Heels, 12 March - 7 July 2013. How many types of hats and shoes can you list? From uniform caps to party shoes and top hats to wellington boots discover more about why people have worn and continue to wear certain styles of shoes and hats.
